Bring your own world data

Open Data Admin to import GeoJSON or register public HTTPS providers without restarting. See the data model and integration guide for attributes, source precedence, colours and accuracy. The mounted method below also supports explicitly trusted private-network services.

The Docker server owns all upstream data requests, credentials and caching. The browser receives local URLs. Mount a source JSON file and set REALVERSE_SOURCES to its container path. Restart after changing the catalog. Give each source a stable ID and change its revision when the data changes.

Supported kinds: XYZ/WMTS-template imagery, Terrarium PNG terrain, OSM Overpass or protocol: "geojson" XYZ features, and 3dtiles. Raster schemes are Web Mercator and WGS84 geographic (two root tiles). Custom 3D Tiles sources use their root tileset URL as the template, format: "bin", scheme: "mercator", maxZoom: 0, and offline: false. Relative tileset resources are proxied and cached; references must stay within the configured origin and base directory. Supply bearer credentials through tokenEnv, never browser code. Other server headers can be provided through a private mounted source definition.

Offline areas

AOI packages include raster imagery, terrain tiles, OSM building/road/indoor GeoJSON, place notes, provenance and integrity hashes. Each package is bounded to 2,500 tiles and 24 OSM tiles. The importer validates paths, source revisions and hashes before updating the catalog. The default cache budget is 20 GB and can be changed with REALVERSE_CACHE_GB. Data is never automatically evicted from saved areas.

Custom sources appear in the Sources panel. AOI creation through the API can include an allowed custom source ID when its license permits offline storage. The AOI UI uses your selected imagery, terrain and feature providers. Imported feature datasets remain in the persistent data volume and can be exported separately from Data Admin; they are not embedded in tile AOI packages. Arbitrary remote 3D Tiles and their external dependency graphs are streamed/cached, but are not yet exported as complete AOI packages. Mount or distribute the original licensed model package for fully offline custom interiors. GeoJSON indoor rooms are included when OpenStreetMap has mapped them.

Coverage and accuracy

The default satellite mosaic is the 2016/17 Sentinel-2 cloudless release, approximately 10 m source resolution, licensed CC BY 4.0. Later EOX mosaics have different license conditions. Global Mapzen terrain combines several sources with varying resolution and vertical datums. Coordinates are WGS84; displayed height is rendered terrain height, not a certified measurement. The original authored Himalayan worlds retain their explicit EGM2008 datum. Streaming coverage is between ±85° latitude; split AOIs at the antimeridian.

Buildings are extruded OSM footprints. Explicit height or storey counts are used when present; otherwise two 3 m storeys are an illustration. Roof forms, facade textures and interiors are not invented as factual data. Surveyed meshes, photogrammetry, BIM/IFC conversion, comprehensive indoor datasets, global multiplayer and native Unity streaming remain future integrations.
